WEST LONDON
NW8, SALT HOUSE (Max Barney Pub Company), 63 Abbey Road, NW8 0AE. As at May 2019: There's a current planning application 18/10785/FULL and 18/10324/ADV in the name of Olives and Cream Ltd for heaters and a new front door. From the planners report it is clear there are/have been significant building works under way, and the interior of the building, and unlisted building of merit, has been substantially removed / wrecked. The St John's Wood Society is active in opposition. For the current application, there are clear concerns that the 'pub' will be run as a shisha bar (without any consented planning change) and that the external overhead heaters fitted to the upper sills of the ground floor windows will change the character of the building and encourage night-time use all year round and in all weathers. As at May 27 2019 it was reported that the pub interior had been gutted & painted white, with the bar ripped out. Shisha signage & black canopies had been added.
