Formerly a Charrington pub and then a free house and finally in the Young's pub company stable. The pub is built on land belonging to Thomas Sekforde who died in 1588. The Sekfordes came originally from Suffolk and pub maintained its contacts there in Woodbridge with inter-pub visits. The pub is now privately owned and has been redeveloped. It has a traditional feel, with a separate restaurant downstairs and a function room upstairs. There is a surcharge on the price of half pints.
