The George, with its good food and beer, is a traditional pub during the day, changing to a lively atmosphere at night. You can watch Sky Sports & Bt Sport here – recognised as the greatest pub in the area and located near the cinema and restaurants. The pub has a history of over 200 years. History: There were five inns in Woodford in 1735 - The George, White Hart, Ship & Castle, New Wells and Old Wells. The number of these licensed premises rose to 9 by 1828. The George at Church End, which existed as Horns Inn in 1657, is now a two story red brick building from the 18th Century. The George still manages to retain the atmosphere of a Coaching Hostelry and has a wonderful barn on the George Lane site. Real ales are £3.20 on Tuesdays (as of February 2025).
