LONDON BEER GUIDES UPDATE 107 / S&N ACQUISITION OF CHEF & BREWER Part 2

This month the main event is the opening of two brew pubs in London by Grosvenor Inns now with David Bruce (of Firkin fame) as one of the directors. The pubs, branded "Hedgehog & Hogshead" are in N1 Islington and Sutton. In addition we record a number of pubs and bars converted from shops, restaurants and banks including Fullers first Irish theme pub in SW15 Putney, a further Regent Inns Free House in SW19 Wimbledon and a new Free House in NW1 Camden Town. Further Irish theme pub conversions include one from S&N in SW7 South Kensington and another from Bass in Sutton. More Wychwood pubs have been discovered as they come up for refurbishment. The removal of real ale from Sam Smith pubs continues. The listings also include any additions, deletions or major changes emerging from the new North London guide not already recorded in the Updates. The Updates will cross refer to the new guide from next month. Finally, we complete the listings of pubs trnsferred from Grand Met to Scottish & Newcastle.

The numbers in brackets after each entry refer to the page number in the following guides: E - East London & City Beer Guide, 3rd edition; K - 'Real Ale Drinkers Guide to Kent Pubs', 8th edition; N - North London Beer Guide, 2nd edition; SE - South East London Pub Guide, 4th edition; 3SE - South East London Pub Guide, 3rd edition; SW - Real Beer in South West London; W - Real Beer in West London; X - Essex Beer Guide, 8th edition. U refers to earlier updates. # indicates a guest beer.
