Licensed in 1724 as the Coach & Horses and rebuilt in 1892 and 1953. The pub website references the Duke of Clarence who became King William IV in 1830, though the sign outside shows a later Duke the firstborn son of the future Edward VII, Albert Victor who died in his twenties and hence did not succeed his father. The pub's smallish frontage belies a much larger area extending back and with a pleasant quieter upstairs bar. Nicholson's often have an unusual beer or two here. The pub is located very close to the famous Ritz hotel in Piccadilly.
