Rebuilt in 1939 in art deco style to replace a pub dating from 1718, the main ground floor is effectively divided into two separate bars by the large serving area and there is a further area on a slightly lower level to the rear. Some attractive wood panelling was retained, whilst outside, the upper window frames are pure 1930s, as is the metal second floor balcony with its stylised horse-motif metal railing.

Up to seven cask ales are normally available, largely national brands.
