BROMLEY

BECKENHAM, KELSEY HOUSE, 75 High Street, BR3 1AN. Closed due to adjacent building works until at least the end of March.

BECKENHAM, BECKENHAM PLACE PARK GOLF COURSE, Beckenham Hill Road, BR3 1SY. Became MANSION CAFE & BAR. Previously a golf club where the premises was used as pro shop, cafe and changing rooms. Under current management since November 2016 after the municipal golf course was closed by Lewisham Council. Cafe has always been present and open to the public but now serves beer, wine, prosecco and spirits. Keg beers only from cans and bottles. Daily menu of sandwiches, soups and smoothies plus sweet and savoury snacks from The Blackbird Bakery. Brunch menu on Saturdays plus roasts on Sundays during the autumn and winter seasons. Coffee supplied by local coffee makers Hundred House Coffee.

E17, CLAPTON CRAFT DEPOT , 147-151, Unit 1, Wood Street, E17 3LX. Opened in April 2021 by the small chain of Clapton Craft craft beer bottle shops, near their distribution warehouse. Subtitled The Depot, it has much more drinking space than their other sites, with white decor and big clear front windows. No real ale but a good range of about ten draught beers. One visit found Anspach & Hobday London Black, Beak IPA, Braybrooke house helles, Deya Magazine Cover, Four Pillars Cold Porter, Newbarns Pilsner and Table Beer, Signature Lemon Sour, Track Sonoma and West Coast, Wiper & True Session. About 400 bottled beers, including selections from Anspach & Hobday, Baron, Brick, Deya, Gipsy Hill, Gravity Well, Hammerton, Howling Hops, Kernel, Mondo, Pastore, Pressure Drop, Pretty Decent, Signature, Siren, Track, Verdant, Vibrant Forest, Villages. They also do wines, cocktails and snacks. Outdoor drinking area. Pizza can be ordered in from Yard Sale Pizza.

NW1, CAPTAIN FLINDERS (Wetherspoon), 34-38 Eversholt Street, NW1 1DA. A new Spoons pub opened in January. Named after Captain Matthew Flinders whose remains were discovered during HS2 Archaeologists working at the Euston station redevelopment. The Royal Navy explorer led the first circumnavigation of Australia (1801-03) and is credited with giving the country its name. He was not the first to use the term, but his work and publications popularised it. On the station’s main concourse is a statue of Flinders leaning over a map, with his pet cat Trim. Regular beers are unsurprisingly Greene King Abbot; Ruddles Best Bitter and Sharp's Doom Bar. There is only one handpump left for guest ales. The first one was Twickenham Naked Ladies.

SE1, CORNER BAR, Tate Modern, 53 Bankside, SE1 9TG. Opened in 2023 as a Tate Modern refreshment venue described as an all-day cafe and bar, opening onto an outdoor summer terrace. 14 keg beer taps and a large range of bottled and canned beers.

SE1, GERMAN KRAFT , 42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR. A brewpub located in the large Mercato Metropolitano food and drink complex. It opened in December 2017, with gleaming brewing equipment standing behind the bar counter and there are dedicated trestle tables for the brewery which is situated in a little alcove off the Mercato. German-style beers are brewed and they are served in the German way (i.e. don’t expect any cask beer).

SE1, HORNIMAN AT HAY'S (M&B/Nicholson's), Unit 26, Hays Galleria, Counter Street, SE1 2HD. Chain has withdrawn from Cask Marque scheme.

There is also draught lagers and wine. Seating for roughly 30 inside at settles and high stools.

SE14, FLOWER OF KENT (Wellington), 135 Lewisham Way, SE14 6QP. The pub appears to have closed in late Dec 2023 for reasons unknown at present.

SE16, IT AIN'T MUCH IF IT AIN'T DUTCH , 67-68 Enid Street, SE16 3RA. A Dutch bar in the heart of Bermondsey's Beer Mile that opened in the second half of 2023 in converted railway arches. it is equipped with 30 keg taps. It is a venture involving Proeflokaal Rembrandt, an outfit that previously ran a similar bar in Earl's Court.

SE17, LOWLINE (//), Arch 18, Angel Lane, SE17 3FR. Previously unreported taproom for Better World Brewing Co, a brewery producing at various locations. A smartly furnished railway arch at the junction with Penrose Street. Equipped with ten keg taps and selling beers from bottles and cans too. A short lived venture reported as closed in May 2023, reason unknown.

SE18, SALT WOOLWICH (Berkeley Homes/Salt London/Salt London), 15 Major Draper Street, SE18 6GD. Sells a real ale either fom Ossett or Salt.

Closed for seven years, this 3,600sq ft, two-storey 1840-build pub site finally reopened in December 2023, the second to open under the Tom Kerridge BUTCHER’S TAP & GRILL concept. This is his third London site and follows Kerridge's Bar & Grill at the Corinthia hotel in Whitehall, and Kerridge's Fish & Chips at Harrods' dining hall. Following very substantial refurb work, the ground-floor pub features a focal hardwood bar, chestnut leather booth seating and a bespoke timber staircase. The restaurant area is downstairs with an open plan kitchen equipped with meat-ageing fridges. The menu at Butcher's Tap & Grill Chelsea offers a selection of British-centric butcher-cuts, burgers, hot dogs and small bites, such as grass-fed beef rom HG Walter and Dovecote Farm and Longland Farm duck. The pub is open for lunch and dinner and serves a Sunday roast; as well as takeaway services. Kids eat free Monday - Thursday 3-5pm. Kerridge has said: "We very much want to be a local's local, somewhere to pop in, have a pint, watch some sport have a bite and relax. We will also be dog friendly so well behaved four legged friends are very welcome too!" There are three ale handpumps serving fairly low-ABV session beers including Rebellion IPA.

This venue is on the site of a demolished Smollensky's restaurant, The substantial rebuild included retail units at ground-floor level, one of which is Oche, which combines tech-enhanced darts with gastro food and is one of the growing number of socialising "experience venues" in London. The general ambience is high-tech plus neon lighting. Operator The Social Gaming Group is owned by Norwegian tech investor Karbon Invest. The food menu is of the "crossover tapas" variety plus sharing plates, and at the bar some keg beers and lagers are on offer.
