SOUTH EAST LONDON

SE1, BREWDOG WATERLOO (Network Rail/BrewDog), Unit G, 01 The Sidings, Waterloo Railway Station, SE1 7BH. BrewDog opened this venue on Thursday 18th August 2022 using part of the former Eurostar terminal located underneath platforms 20-24 in a commercial area known as The Sidings, itself "three floors of retail, dining and experiences". The operator claims is it the biggest pub in London and it is certainly enormous. This is a multi floor venue that is split into smaller zones. The main area of the venue follows the usual BrewDog industrial styling, with the walls stripped back to the building materials, filament style lights on strings or wires and with pipework and cable ducting visible. The look is completed by the steel staircase staircase, tables and furniture which keeps the industrial “function before form†look. The venue also has a Coffee Shop zone under the Grind brand, that looks more akin to a “normal” coffee shop with parquet flooring, and more fashionable looking chairs and tables and a green plant wall to demarcate the coffee area from the main bar. The bar floor also contains a hidden “SpeakEasy” cocktail bar and ping pong tables that function as co-working desks by day. The venue has novelty features such as a slide between the floors, photo booth, podcast studio, duckpin bowling lanes, ice cream van with “adult” beer flavoured treats, and quiet “Zoom room” pods for taking calls. There is what looks to be an on site brewery, and the bar has its own beer “Trainspotter” It is currently unknown how much brewing is actually taking place on site or if the equipment is really primarily for show. There are about sixty taps serving beer over two floors, however the upper and lower bars feature a similar line up of BrewDog's core beers of near identical beer choices, so there are usually about thirty different beers on sale, along with the usual ciders, soft drinks and spirits. The food choices are Brewdog's usual fare of burgers, wings, pizza and roasted chicken, and included are a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. At the time of opening no real ale was sold here.
