BROMLEY

BECKENHAM, THREE HOUNDS BEER COMPANY, 57 Beckenham Road, BR3 4PR. A changing real ale is now available such as Beerblefish Pan Galactic Pale or Howling Hops Tropical Deluxe This may increase depending on demand. As well as an extensive keg beer range upto 150 beers are stored in fridges at the rear of the pub and are also available for off-sales.

BROMLEY, SHORTLANDS TAVERN (Greene King). No longer offers a CAMRA discount.

CHISLEHURST, COCKPIT, 4 Royal Parade. Now offers a real cider usually from Ascension.

EDEN PARK, EDEN PARK (M&B/ Toby Carvery), 422 Upper Elmers End Road. No longer cask marque accredited.

KESTON, FOX INN (Stonegate Pub Partners), Heathfield Road. The pub reopened under new management on May 17.

KESTON, KINGS ARMS (Stonegate Pub Partners), Leaves Green Rd. As at May 2021 the pub is closed. An application has been made to Bromley Council for various internal works, and the erection of new signage which indicates that the plan is for the premises to reopen as a "Bar & Turkish restaurant".

E6, BOLEYN TAVERN (Remarkable Pubs), 1 Barking Road, E6 1PW. Reopened in June 2021 after a spectacular £1.5 million restoration by Remarkable Pubs with the aim of making the interior look like it was when it first opened. New hand-crafted wooden screens have been created, complete with acid-etched and Brilliant cut glass, replicating one of the original wood and glass panels in the old saloon bar. This means the original seven bar layout has been restored. The highlight is the massive coloured glass skylight that spans what once would have been a billiards room, but is now an open kitchen, servery and dining area. Four real ales from Fuller’s, Five Points and Shepherd Neame on reopening.

KINGSTON, SEVEN SAXONS (Courage), 22 Eden Street, KT1 1BB. The building was reworked c.2006 to the point it no longer resembles the original building. Finally demolished in May 2021.Built as an octagonal building to replace the nearby Three Horseshoes, which closed in 1971. Opened in 1975. Following closure in 1983 became retail and then a branch of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society. Building largely rebuilt in 2006-7 and last vestiges removed in April/May 2021 as part of Unilever Eden Campus redevelopment.

TEDDINGTON, RAILWAY (Stonegate Pub Partners), 3 Victoria Road, TW11 0BB. No longer cask marque accredited.

W4, THAMES TRADESMEN'S ROWING CLUB (Hounslow Council), Chiswick Boathouse, Dukes Meadows, W4 2SH. Having closed in 2018, on the 29 April 2020 the club issued a statement welcoming their return to their home following nearly two years of negotiations with the council.

NEW SE1, ART YARD BAR & KITCHEN, 2 Blackfriars Road, Upper Ground. Modern bar and restaurant at the base of the Bankside Hotel, opened in late Oct 2018. Usually has three Fourpure beers on tap.

NEW SE1, AUBERGE, 1 Sandell Street. Established French brasserie-style venue with ground floor bar, first floor informal dining area and a roof terrace. Three craft beers on tap.

SE1, BALTIC, 74 Blackfriars Road, SE1 8HA. On 28/04/2021 the venue posted on their Facebook page that they would not be re-opening, but a new venue would be opening there in July.Eastern Europe Bar & Restaurant

NEW SE1, BAR 31, 31 St Thomas Street. Opened in 2018, this modern bar, located at the base of the iconic Shard building, is part of the Shangri-La hotel.

SE1, BEER HOUSE WATERLOO (SSP), Unit 4, Waterloo Mainline Railway Station, SE1 7LY. As at 21/05/2021 remains closed with no sign of re-opening in the near future.

SE1, BLACK HORSE, 254 Tabard Street, SE1 4UN. In May 2020 planning permission was granted for demolition and construction of new residential development with public house and other commercial unit(s) on the ground floor In Dec 2020 a subsequent proposal to retain the existing building and convert the ground floor to residential use was refused.

SE1, MAD HATTER (Fullers), 3-7 Stamford Street, SE1 9NY. Remains closed

SE1, HAND & MARIGOLD (Wellington), 244 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UH. The interior had been ripped out by the end of May 2021. Planning permission was granted in Apr 2020 for creation of new flats on the upper floors, retaining pub use on the ground floor.

SE1, MATCHBOXSE1, Winchester Walk, Borough Market, SE1 9AG. Closed in mid-June 2021 as tender for longer term lease was unsuccessful.

SE1, OTHER ROOM (Bermondsey Arts Club), 60 Tower Bridge Road, SE1 4TR .Premises changed to Iro Sushi in Jan 2019.

SE1, RAVEN (Bloomsbury Leisure), 218 Tower Bridge Road, SE1 2UP. Remains closed until the removal of restrictions.

NEW SE1, REDWOOD SPORTS PUB & KITCHEN, London Bridge Station. Large, modern sports bar, opened in Nov 2019, and boasting state of the art screens and sound system. Located outside the main entrance to London Bridge station, next to the iconic Shard.

SE1, ROSE & CROWN (Shepherd Neame), 47 Colombo Street, SE1 8DP. Remains closed until the removal of restrictions.

NEW SE1, ST FELIX PLACE, 45 Southwark Street. Brewpub opened in April 2021 situated within two railway arches. In addition to seating within the arches there is a spacious outdoor seating area. Craft beers on tap including those brewed on-site in collaboration with Lagunitas Brewing Co. Food consists of Tex-Mex from Texas Joe's and pizza from The Good Slice.

SE1, SPORTS BAR & GRILL (Stonegate), Unit B1, The Balcony, Waterloo Railway Station, SE1 7LY. The unit is being refurbished by Network Rail and no longer listed on the Stonegate website.

SE1, STUDIO 6, Gabriel's Wharf, 56 Upper Ground, SE1 9PP. Renamed LIMIN BEACH CLUB. What began as a pop-up in Spitalfields Market transferred to its permanent home here in July 2020. A Trinidadian restaurant and bar with a conservatory and outdoor sandy beach space! The food is Caribbean themed and drinks focus on cocktails but include a lager and a beer on tap.

SE1, VILLAGE EAST, 171-173 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UW. Renamed LAST TALISMAN. Asian grill and bar, serving mainly craft beer, wine and cocktails.

SE3, COOMBE LODGE, 12 Charlton Road, SE3 7HG. As at 20/05/2021 the Club is boarded up. Planning application for conversion to residential was refused in 2018. Revised planning application submitted Mar 2021 for partial conversion to residential and retaining a smaller club.

SE4, BROCKLEY SOCIAL CLUB, 240 Brockley Road, SE4 2SU. The club officially closed for the time being on 31/12/2020. Planning permission was granted in Aug 2020 for the demolition of the existing building and replacement with a 5 storey property containing 9 flats and a new social club.

SE5, AMARYLLIS (Wellington), 66 Coldharbour Lane, SE5 9PU. Planning permission granted May 2018 for building extension & conversion of upper floors to flats - works underway. Pub to be retained on ground floor and being marketed through Savills.

SE5, CAMBRIA (Star), 40 Kemerton Road, SE5 9AR. The pub closed in autumn 2019. As at April 2021 it appears that Star Pubs & Bars are having a renewed effort to find a new tenant and are planning a comprehensive refurbishment.

SE6, ACES BAR, 88 Verdant Lane, SE6 1LF. Closed in 2015 due to licensing issues. Became a café an coffee bar.

SE6, FELLOWSHIP & STAR (Phoenix Community Housing/Electric Star Group), Randlesdown Road, SE6 3BT. Closed with lease on the market.

SE6, PERRY HILL, 78-80 Perry Hill, SE6 4EY. After having been closed for a couple of years, the pub was refurbished and reopened by new operators in April 2021.

SE7, ANTIGALLICAN, 428 Woolwich Road, SE7 8SU. - The pub closed in mid-March 2018 and the property was sold to a developer in 2019 for a reported £2m. In May 2019 planning permission was granted for a 3-storey side extension to facilitate creation of a 60-bed hotel, retaining the ground floor public bar.

SE7, CHARLTON LIBERAL CLUB, 59 Charlton Church Lane, SE7 7AE. A planning app to demolish and build flats rejected September 2020 as the applicant failed to demonstrate the club had been marketed as a community facility.

NEW SE7, GREEN GODDESS, Charlton House Community Centre, Charlton Road. A pop-up pub operating at weekends in the environs of the fabulous Charlton House since 14th May 2021. Appears to be run by the Common Rioters Brewery as it seeks a long term brewing and taproom site. Advertises one cask ale and up to 4 keg beers on the What's On page of its website. Sessions end at 8pm. Card payments only.

SE7, PICKWICK (Stonegate Pub Partners), 246 Woolwich Road, SE7 7QU. The freehold was put up for sale in late 2016 and the pub subsequently closed. In 2018 the new owner was refused planning permission to demolish the property and construct 14 serviced apartments with replacement public house. In May 2019 planning permission was granted for demolition of the rear extension and construction of 6 terraced residential units. In May 2020 a further planning application was submitted to refurbish the pub and B&B accommodation and construct 4 storey apart-hotel at the rear.

NEW SE8, AAJA DEPTFORD, Arch 2, Deptford Market Yard. Craft beer and cocktails bar, opened in summer 2018, with a focus on music and live performance events. Has four craft beers on tap. Is situated in one of the arches underneath the Grade II-listed Deptford station carriage ramp which was restored in 2015 as part of a redevelopment of the station and adjacent area.

NEW SE8, BADGER BADGER, 139-145 Deptford High Street. Venue opened in Oct 2020, located next to Deptford rail station. Offers a range of keg beers, including from London breweries. Specialises in Japanese street food. Tables may be booked all day as an alternative to home working. Has over 100 board games available for hire and play on-site.

SE8, BLACK HORSE (Stonegate Pub Partners/Dirty Liquor), 195 Evelyn Street, SE8 5RE. As at 17/05/2021 the pub remains boarded up and there have been no social media updates since Dec 2020.

NEW SE8, JARS BAR, Arch 6, Deptford Market Yard. A craft beer and cocktails bar which opened in late July 2019. Has a good selection of canned and bottled beers, and up to six craft beers on tap. The bar occupies one of the arches underneath the Grade II-listed Deptford station carriage ramp which was restored in 2015 as part of a redevelopment of the station and adjacent area.

NEW SE8, LITTLE FAITH, Artworks, 3 Creekside. Craft beer bar, opened in Dec 2018. The premises were formerly occupied by a Pentecostal church, hence the converted pew seating. Up to 10 beers on tap, a mix of Little Faith’s own beers (brewed at Kernel Brewery, Bermondsey) and guest beers mainly from London breweries. Has an outdoor seating area next door but one, with its own bar in a converted shipping container.

SE8, LORD CLYDE , 9 Wooton Road, SE8 5TQ. The pub closed in 2014. In 2015 planning permission was granted for an extension and conversion of upper floors to residential, retaining a pub on the ground floor. These works were completed some years ago now but to date the pub has not re-opened.

SE8, LORD PALMERSTON , 81 Childers Street, SE8 5JR. In Nov 2018 planning permission was granted for an extension and the creation of six 2-bed flats, retaining the ground floor public house. As at May 2021 the flats have been completed and the pub is being marketed for lease by AGG.

SE8, ROYAL GEORGE (Samuel Smith | unknown: | Samuel Smith), 85 Tanners Hill, SE8 4QD. As at 17/05/2021 the pub remains closed, with a poster in the window advertising for a new management couple.

SE8, WHITE SWAN (individual: | unknown: | independent:), 217 Deptford High Street, SE8 3NT. As at 18/05/2021 the pub remains closed with the windows white-washed over.

SE9, HOWERD CLUB (unknown: | unknown: | Howerd Club), 447 Rochester Way, SE9 6PH. Now occuplied by a nursery school.

NEW SE9, POPE STREET BAR & KITCHEN, 396 Footscray Road. A modern bar & kitchen a short walk from New Eltham station, opened in Dec 2018. Has 8 taps offering a range of craft beers and lagers. Also specialises in cocktails and premium gins.

SE9, ROYAL (Stonegate Pub Partners), 185 Court Road, SE9 4UG. Reported closed Jan 2020. Planning application submitted in Dec 2020 for ground floor extension around 3 sides of the building to provide additional bar/dining space.

NEW SE10, CAFE ROUGE, 30A Stockwell Street. Primarily a restaurant but does serve drinks without a meal. Sited partly on the footprint of the former, long closed Greenwich Park railway station, abutting, as it does, the Hotel Ibis Greenwich.

SE10, GREENWICH UNION (Meantime), 56 Royal Hill, SE10 8RT. In April 2021 Young's announced they had acquired the premises with the intention of incorporating into their Richard I pub next door.

SE10, MITRE (M&B), 291 Greenwich High Road, SE10 8NA. No longer selling a real cider.

NEW SE10, PICTUREHOUSE, 180 Greenwich High Road. The Galley Café & Bar and the First Floor Gallery both serve food and drinks. They are part of the Picturehouse cinema complex and are open for non cinema-goers. The telephone number is a premium rate one - be warned before dialling. The opening and food hours are indicative. In fact the opening and food hours are opening every day 30 minutes before the first film and closing at 9 pm. NEW SE12, CROFTON ALBION SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB, Weigall Road. This sports and social club was established in 1967 and has two full-size football pitches plus 9, 7 and 5-a-side mini-pitches for hire. Local amateur cricket clubs also play at the club during the summer. The well appointed clubhouse is available for private hire.

SE12, DUTCH HOUSE, Sidcup Road, SE12 9AL. Restored and refurbished, the new cafe/bar opened in May 2021 and has a mainly cafe feel during the day and more of a bar in the evening. Has one lager and one keg beer on tap.

NEW SE14, FOREST ROAD BREWERY - EMERALD CITY TAPROOM, Unit 1A Elizabeth Industrial Estate, Juno Way. Having started out in 2015 home brewing and subsequently opening a taproom in Hackney, east London, the Forest Road Brewery obtained a new brewing site in South Bermondsey in 2020 and fitted it out with second-hand kit shipped from California. The on-site taproom opened in May 2021 and has 20 taps.

NEW SE14, ONE FOR THE ROAD, 327 New Cross Road. Urban bar opened in late summer 2020 below the Venue nightclub and dedicated to street art, music and street food. The premises have been stripped back to a basic shell and local street artists invited to decorate the walls. There is a spacious outdoor seating area at the rear.

Following closure with the 2020 lockdown, substantial building alterations, planned over several years have been successfully completed, improving the interior, providing new toilets and a new, enclosed patio and altogether preserving the pub. The extent of the beer range can only depend on footfall as Covid restrictions are lifted. SlyBeast Putney Porter, brewed in collaboration with licensee Chris Walsh, was one of ten cask ales available for the reopening including full Timothy Taylor range.

SW6, MALT HOUSE (Brakspear Pub Co/ Jolly Fine Pub Group), 17 Vanston Place, SW6 1AY. Renamed WOLFPACK. Reopened post-Covid in summer 2021 and under a new name. Wolfpack Lager, the venture founded by ex-rugby union professionals Alistair Hargreaves and Chris Wyles, has opened this as its third pub in London to join sites in Queens Park and West Hampstead. Wolfpack acquired the lease from Jolly Fine Pub Co. and simultaneously took a new lease from Brakspear. The Wolfpack name derives from the dressing-room mentality when the two entrepreneurs played for Saracens. This is a large corner pub a short walk from Fulham Broadway tube station with an attractive garden/patio area. Keg beers include Wildman Wolfpack Lager but no real ale.

As with all of their pubs they will be selling beers from their Authentic Heritage cask range - AK, Country and IPA and possibly augmented with one of their seasonal beers which are sometimes branded under their Rivertown banner.

NEW W1, MR FOGG'S SECRET GARDEN , Bruton Lane, W1J 6JD. Part of a small chain of Mr Fogg's venues in central London, this is a 100-cover outdoor space, largely covered, and heated in cold weather. The venue seeks to recreate a traditional English walled garden. The Mr Fogg's venues are primarily cocktail bars but this one serves draught house lager and pale ale. Mr Fogg's Residence, a different venue, is a few metres south in Bruton Lane.

NEW W1, SIXES CRICKET CLUB , 170 Great Portland Street, W1W 5QB. This is a sister site to a similar venue in Fulham, a cricket-simulator venue with minimum two players per session which is booked in hour slots. Family-friendly and kids can use the simulator from age 5 upwards. It is entirely possible to drink and eat without cricketing. Open from morning until late, Sixes offers all day dining with an English pub-classics menu. Drinks include craft beers and lagers plus a good range of cocktails, wines and spirits.

W2, CORK & BOTTLE (Gresham Collective), 27 Spring Street, W2 1JA. Reported closed & boarded up.

W2, ROYAL EXCHANGE (P & J Pubs Ltd), 26 Sale Place, W2 1PU. Reopened and under the same management as the Priory Arms SW8 and Grosvenor Arms SW9, both noted for their interesting range of beer. One handpump ale in this pub at date of this entry plus about 12 keg beers. The owners are interested in Belgian beer and maybe the 'fridges will stock some Belgian bottles in due course.

NEW W12, HAWK'S NEST ,Shepherd's Bush Market, Goldhawk Road, W12 8DF. This is an outdoor street food dining space located off the Goldhawk Road next to Sainsbury and alongside the railway arches in the old goods yard which belonged to Shepherds Bush Market. The Hawk’s Nest is the first venue from Bird House London, run by Wil Fuller of Soho House Group and Frazer Timmerman previously at Incipio Group, the company operating the Pergola street-food brand. There's bench seating (120 covers) for up to six on a table, Most of the seating areas have been covered and roof heaters are availlable in poor weather. There is a smaller indoor seating area and bar in the railway arch. Beer mats are scannable to bring up the menu on smartphones. The food menu is short, consisting of light-bites and pizzas plus ice-creams. Camden Hells & Camden Pale is available on draught + Guinness. No real ale.

W12, ORCHARD TAVERN (Star), 136 Askew Road, W12 9BP. Real Ale reinstated with a changing beer such as Bath Ales Gem.

NEW W12 PHOENIX , 1078 Ariel Way, W12 7GB. This venue is in the old Jamie's Italian site within the Westfield complex and offers a mixture of Italian street food and Mexican-inspired cocktails, but the drinks list also includes Budvar Tank Beer plus various other craft beers on draught, and a decent range of bottles. It is entirely possible to just have a drink if you do not want to eat. There is a very large terrace area with room for 400. The food offering includes sourdough pizzas, burgers, onglet steak and skinny fries with chimichurri, and salad boxes with flatbreads. The operators also run the Hawk's Nest, down the road and opposite Goldhawk Road tube station entrance.
