The Woodpecker is the second London site run by the independent pub group Pulse Venues. The family also run The Raven in Tower Bridge alongside pubs in Hampshire, Dorset and Cornwall. TT Landlord available on reopening. A house beer is due called Naughty Knocker Ale likely to be a brew from a Cornish brewery.

Formerly Original Woodman. From 2003 to 2022 it was Le QuecumBar, a privately operated French 1930s live jazz wine bar (pronounced ‘cucumber'): ‘London's home to Django Reinhardt's Gypsy Swing', open Thu-Sun post-Covid.

Reopened May 2024 as a 'Louisiana Lounge/Creole Kitchen', one of the small 'Rhythm & Booze' chain, with live music most nights. Two stages. Dark green walls and white ceilings. Renamed Woodpecker in November 2024, seemingly less food-oriented.

Nine keg fonts for beers and cider, including Rebellion IPA and Sambrook's specialities. Good bottled ale selection, including Theakston's Old Peculier.

Pool, darts, karaoke and open mic Wednesdays

That was until early 2026 when the premises were acquired by Pulse Venues, operator of the Raven, Tower Bridge, etc. Exciting reopening now awaited as at June.
