One of the 'Tap' independent chain, this small bar is strategically located in a railway arch on the pedestrian route between the South Bank attractions and Waterloo railway and Underground stations. Whilst often crowded, there is ample additional outdoor covered seating at the front and another narrow fenced-off patio area to the rear. Between four and six (according to time of year) changing cask ales, dispensed from taps mounted centrally on the copper bar-back, are flanked by 20 keg taps and all are prominently displayed on a blackboard above. There is usually at least one dark beer. Children welcome until 7pm. Two toilets here - one marked Urinal and the other Toilet, the latter being unisex and for mobility impaired persons, albeit lacking an emergency cord or grab rail. Card payments only.
