Started as The George, a Greene King pub, and then became The Angelic. This is an imposing Victorian pub next to Sainsburys; which in its current incarnation places it firmly into the gastro camp. It is large and open yet still retains some original features, namely the bar areas and support pillars, ceiling and tiles above the back bar, windows, door and fireplace. The huge windows let in lots of light and the sofas around the fireplaces are popular spots. An indoor fountain by the basement toilets was an unusual feature..
