Large gastropub with a U-shaped counter and open plan kitchen, recently made-over to provide more light and varied seating and in an Art-Deco style. The rear area features separate dining-tables. The modern menu uses seasonal ingredients and includes Sunday roasts. Clientele is mainly young and upmarket and often with a French contingent. Built in 1850, it was formerly the Artesian, truly a well-named pub.
